Tech Dump, which has locations in Golden Valley and St. Paul, is one of five winners of the Google.Org Impact Challenge and $175,000 in grant funding. The organization trains and employs adults who face barriers to employment in electronics recycling and refurbishment.
The retail arm of the operation, Tech Discounts, sells refurbished tech items.
Tech Dump could win $125,000 more if they win the People’s Choice Award. You can vote here: https://impactchallenge.withgoogle.com/minnesota2019
The organization will be using the money to create and execute a new leadership training institute for program participants.
“The people’s choice award would allow us to further increase the amount of training that people receive on how to go from being a peer to a supervisor and how to work through some of the trauma they’ve experienced,” said Amanda LaGrange, CEO of Tech Dump. “Or building better tools in their toolbox to become an even better leader as they reenter our community.”
